Course Reflection

Throughout this course I have appreciated how interactive and well thought out the lessons were that my colleagues created.  It was an absolute pleasure seeing and experiencing the different activities that we were involved in and it opened my eyes to how social studies can be taught in the classroom.
Often times we resort to textbooks and ask students to find information within.  It is a time efficient method for teaching students the required material, however it lacks the interactivity that students will remember the most.  Whether it be constructing our own small towns, Skyping to guess a person's location, or asking an inquiry question on what it is to be Canadian, all these topics that were taught in this course has inspired me to become a more enthusiastic teacher.

I hope that just as my colleagues have inspired me to think more outside the box, that I can inspire future students to think outside the box too.  This was a notion that was expressed to me when I was young, and it promoted a more creative mind.  This is what I want students to be; creative and unique.
